Segment Producer, Morning Joe

Join the Morning Joe team as a Segment Producer and contribute daily to pitching, writing and producing exceptional and impactful political discussion. Typical hours are Monday – Friday, 1am – 9am.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Write news scripts, teases, and guest segment intros
  • Determine video and sound for assigned segments
  • Communicate daily story development with senior producer
  • Be in control room during airing of live segment
  • Take part in editorial planning
  • Pitch story ideas


Basic Qualification:
• Must have at least 3 years of experience in live television (i.e. morning shows, cable shows, broadcast TV, etc)
• Thorough knowledge of American politics, and American history and strong writing skills a must
• Must have at least 3 years in both tape and desktop editing
• Bachelor’s degree

Additional Requirements:
• Must be willing and able to work flexible hours, under tight deadline pressure, including breaking news
• Must be willing to work in NYC
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States

Desired Characteristics:
• Ability to "book" guests, and work with graphics and video elements
• Exceptional editorial skills: Ability to recognize stories with high potential for provocative, compelling television
• Knowledge of current events, politics and pop culture
• Up to date on periodicals, including Op-Eds
• Ability to quickly develop story, ideas, research and plan segments
