NerdWallet is seeking a Business Development Lead to help us establish and scale partnerships for our Home Ownership team.  Ideal candidates are strategic thinkers with entrepreneurial drive and a passion for developing relationships that will accelerate our business.  The Business Development Lead will work within our Home Ownership vertical to identify, build relationships with, onboard and manage new partners across the mortgage value chain.  Ideal candidates will have a deep understanding of the mortgage industry and digital marketing space

The Business Development Lead will report to our Business Development Team Leader and work closely with the Home Ownership Product Managers and cross-functional teams.

Where you can make an impact:

  • Acquire new partners and develop relationships with institutions in the mortgage industry
  • Lead negotiations to drive impact for the Home Ownership vertical
  • Manage relationships with third party platform partners
  • Work closely with PMs to optimize partner campaigns and shape new products to deliver consumer value
  • Build and maintain relationships with influencers and important players in the real estate industry

You are:

  • Deal-savvy: Properly evaluate optimal outcomes and drive negotiations with partners
  • Strategic:  Understand the mortgage partner landscape, efficiently grow and prioritize relationships
  • Strong Communicator: Excellent written and oral communication skills to lead interactions and negotiations with partners and internal stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Client-oriented:  Build trust with our partners, understand their needs, and help develop solutions
  • Collaborative: Work closely with PM’s and other internal stakeholders to drive execution
  • Entrepreneurial:  Think like an owner, test and iterate, prioritize in a fast-paced environment

Your experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in the mortgage industry. Digital marketing experience and deep understanding of digital marketplaces a plus
  • Sales or Business Development experience, including success negotiating and closing revenue-generating deals
  • Salesforce.com or other CRM experience preferred
  • Track record of excellence in high-performance academic and professional environments
  • Undergraduate degree required.  MBA optional
  • People leadership experience a plus
