Who are we?
The Netflix studio combines world-class technology and creative talent to produce hundreds of new titles a year. As a machine learning scientist on the Content Science & Algorithms team, you will apply advanced and cutting-edge machine learning and deep learning techniques to optimize the way in which content is created. You will work on novel problems in the entertainment space, like: How do we discover exciting new IP? How can we identify best-in-class talent for casting in emerging markets? How do we extract signals from text and images that can enhance our ability to predict audience size? We are the home for machine learning innovation in the entertainment space and are pushing the boundaries of what is possible.


  • Collaborate with business partners to identify immediate and emerging needs that can be addressed using data science
  • Design and develop practical machine learning solutions to problems lacking pre-existing structured data sets
  • Communicate results to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Work with product development engineering teams to transition solutions from prototype to production


  • PhD degree in Computer Science, Applied Statistics, or related field
  • Strong background in machine learning using supervised and unsupervised methods.  Bonus points for expertise in deep learning and factorization machines.
  • Experience with Python and good coding practices.  Bonus points for experience with open-source ML packages (specifically sklearn, tensorflow/keras, H2O)Proven track record of leveraging large amounts of data to solve real-world problems, particularly in the fields of computer vision, NLP, and/or network analytics.
  • Experience using crowd-sourcing to collect and clean data
  • Desire and willingness to continue growing your capabilities as a data scientist
