What sets us apart
The Cast team integrates the adaptive and secure media streaming engine for Chromecast sticks and TVs. Our responsibilities include engineering communication between mobile devices and TVs, including remote playback and control. Lastly, we are working in the exciting new field  of voice controlled video playback.  This role specifically focuses on improving Netflix playback, adding features and expanding voice control with Chromecast, Smart TVs and Google Home.
We are looking for generalists who thrive on collaboration and are interested in diverse languages and platforms.  A cast engineer may on any given day work on Android, iOS, PC, or Server platforms and code in Java, Javascript, Typescript, Objective-C, Swift, or Groovy. At this time we are especially interested in candidates with  iOS app development experience.
Part of our technology stack is founded on HTML5 and Javascript features like Media Source Extensions (MSE), Encrypted Media Extensions (EME), and the Web Cryptography API.  We collaborate closely with Google to innovate in this exciting space. We see great growth opportunities for the Cast ecosystem in the foreseeable future.
