Senior Security Engineer - Response

Netflix, Los Gatos, California

Leading subscription service for watching TV episodes and movies

Working with the Netflix Security Intelligence and Response Team (SIRT) you will tackle unsolved problems around incident response in the cloud. We have the opportunity to develop innovative techniques for forensic investigation, incident response and crisis management across Amazon Web Services and third-party Software-as-a-Service providers as we protect Netflix. This is where every company will be in five years, and we are solving these problems today.

You will both handle incidents and develop tooling to improve detection and response. If you want to play with production scale security data, we have it. If you want to automate response, our resilient micro-services architecture allows aggressive action. Come increase your impact as we disrupt activity that threatens our customers, employees and shareholders.

To be successful you should be familiar with:

  • Crisis Management - communications, leadership, continuous learning.
  • Python Development - solving forensic and response challenges with code.
  • Forensics - gathering evidence to recreate what happened.
  • Computer Systems Fundamentals - interaction of disk, memory and processor.
  • Networking Fundamentals - TCP/IP, common L7 protocols, PCAP.
  • Offensive Techniques - initial infection vectors, exploits, and persistence.

And curious about:

  • AWS and 3rd party SaaS - Log formats generated, how to extract telemetry, how to operate in those environments.
  • Big Data - Spark, ETL. Turn lots of information into intelligence - with expert help.
  • Reverse Engineering - Pull apart malware, or leverage 3rd party reports.
  • Architecture and Technical Program Management - working across teams to achieve engineering objectives; at Netflix you own your own programs.
We are looking for thoughtful security professionals who enable our mission and support our culture of freedom and responsibility.  You can learn more about life at Netflix by watching our security talks or exploring our open source work.
