Senior Sustaining Engineer - Device Lifecycle Engineering

Netflix, Los Gatos, California

Leading subscription service for watching TV episodes and movies

The Device Lifecycle Engineering team is focused on helping our partners design and deploy Netflix clients quickly, at the highest levels of quality. We do this by building and deploying new technologies that allow partner engineers to rapidly bring the Netflix experience to new platforms and architectures like smart TVs, set top boxes, media centers, and media sticks in a way that brings joy to our viewers. The results of our work can be seen on over 130 million devices worldwide… and that number is growing every day.
Let’s be clear: We like to build and deploy great technology… but, more importantly, we like to make it even greater when it’s in life -- that’s why this role is key to us.  If you are a good fit and decide to join our team, you will be helping to evolve, improve, and streamline a technology suite used extensively by both external and internal partners. Our portfolio underpins the integration, certification and monitoring of the in life experience for the Netflix application across 350 partners and over 1800 different devices (most likely including the TV sitting in your living room right now!). The technologies involve both cloud and local solutions, spanning from typical modern web stacks to tooling for device drivers and embedded systems. You will help drive the roadmap for technology that directly influences the quality of the next generation of consumer electronics.
We are looking for someone who is a personable self starter with broad technical skills. You should be passionate about helping others and completely unsatisfied with the status quo. If you are a strong engineer who loves solving problems and isn’t afraid to get into the code base, we would love to chat. In our organization, a support engineer will always be pushing to improve the process, raise awareness, and track/influence the overall quality our platform. A release is not the end… it’s only the beginning!
