The Netflix Messaging Engineering team builds the platform, applications, and messages to communicate with Netflix customers. From acquisition and onboarding to account changes and personalized content recommendations, the messaging team handles millions of messages a day. Thoughtful, relevant, and timely messaging is an integral part of the Netflix customer experience.
Netflix sends messages using outbound and in-product channels. We help our customers stay engaged and informed by communicating with them through emails, push notifications, sms messages, voice calls, and OTT services. Within the product we stay connected to our customers using in-product messaging across numerous devices on a variety of platforms (web, mobile, tv, etc.)

What we do ...
The Account & Growth Team’s focus is experimenting with messaging experiences primarily by running A/B tests. Messaging is a core driver of global subscriber acquisition that helps the long term growth strategy for Netflix. The team also owns messaging related to changes in a customer’s account. We innovate on a wide variety of account related messaging from payments and pricing to account access and security. This team is in the unique position of being able to engage with our more than 137 million customers and many millions of potential customers in over 190 countries directly - through communication channels both outside and inside of the Netflix apps.
At Netflix, messaging is part of the core Netflix product. As an engineer on this team, you will partner with product managers, designers, data analysts, UI engineers who work on the Netflix app on Android, iOS, Website, TVs, etc, and backend engineers who work on core membership services such as billing, payments, accounts, and content metadata. Technical Skills Needed:
Deep knowledge and experience in Java or other object oriented languages in a distributed environment.
Solid Experience with query languages such as Presto, SparkSql, Hive, SQL, etc.
Comfortable using common development tools and environments (e.g IntelliJ, Eclipse, Git, Gradle)
Nice To Have Skills:
Experience with A/B Testing.
Experience building services with gRPC and REST
Experience with other JVM languages such as Groovy, Scala, and Kotlin
Experience working on Growth or Messaging projects
Experience with mobile server and client development for iOS and Android platforms.
