Our team connects the device and server worlds.  We enable rapid innovation through a powerful graph API foundation that enables UI engineers to customize APIs to the needs of their platform and UI.  We provide the graph API protocol and server-side technologies that enable UI teams to efficiently and flexibly connect data to their UIs.  This traffic is mission critical to Netflix’s ability to deliver an incredible product to our members around the globe.

Our technologies are leveraged by and impact hundreds of engineers and their productivity.  We aim to provide an excellent developer experience throughout the entire software development lifecycle, from local development to debugging, testing, deployment and maintenance.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about APIs and graph API technologies, and is excited to work closely with front-end teams to provide solutions that accelerate their work and UIs.  You will work with UI teams to optimize against their use cases, UI frameworks, and data persistence needs.  You will help evolve our graph API technology and ensure that our solutions are reliable, scalable, and performant.

About the role

  • Build, maintain, and evolve our graph API ecosystem used by hundreds of engineers 
  • Apply your knowledge and experience with API technologies (e.g. GraphQL, Falcor, REST) to our problem space
  • Build large scale, observable, and highly available systems in Node.js
  • Collaborate with UI teams to enable new functionality and to support their needs
  • Invest in deeply understanding the use cases of UI teams across a range of dimensions, such as data modeling, data fetching and mutation, error handling, cache management, performance
  • Improve developer productivity through better tooling and insights into our graph APIs: discoverability, versioning, error rates, and frequency analysis
  • Optimize server and protocol performance to improve efficiency and latency
  • Partner with central engineering teams to build, integrate, and/or evolve platform and infrastructure
