The Position:
We offer a unique opportunity for a groundbreaking product leader to revolutionize how movies and TV shows are made.  Netflix continues to ramp up the creation of video content around the world at an unprecedented pace.  The exploding number of original titles we’re offering creates challenges that demand extensive innovation on how such content is produced; innovation that will finally take our industry into the 21st century.  We seek a product executive who will lead the technology that optimizes and automates the content production process from script (when an idea is pitched) to screen (when the show is ready to watch). The work first powers pre-production, production, post-production and then the discovery, video encoding and quality, internationalization, localization, and marketing of the preeminent streaming library in the world. The innovation of tools and apps that optimize production at a global scale will enable us to realize our quest to revolutionize the future of video entertainment.

What you will do:

  • Inspire a high performance team to continually come up with ways to create and improve the dozens of apps necessary to be the best-in-class studio workplace.
  • Lead a team of world-class product managers who are deft at balancing the stated needs of the user with what will be most impactful for the business.  
  • Managing the team to prioritize based on customer needs and strategic demands.
  • Represent studio tech at the executive level as we continue to figure out how to expand globally while growing our offering of diverse, exclusive content.
  • Create an environment that fosters high quality app development that improves client workflow to such a degree that the apps are eagerly adopted. 
  • Improve and expand the team by attracting, developing and retaining high performance product leaders who excel within a diverse and inclusive environment.
  • Build bridges to firm up fruitful collaborations with design, engineering and content.

In order to be successful you will be a super-effective professional who is creative, proactive and results-oriented.  While this is not a hands-on position, everyone at Netflix is hands-on in many ways so you must be comfortable working on a project-level one-minute and on a strategic, executive-level the next.   

You should be known for your ability to manage a formidable team and figure out ways to help them flourish. You are comfortable knowing when there is an opportunity to be more metrics-driven and when it is more fruitful to be more judgment-based.  You are also adept at balancing a portfolio of bigger and smaller bets across a product team. You bring a new and diverse perspective.

As a high-level executive you are a strong internal and external communicator, someone who can effectively connect with the best of both Silicon Valley and Hollywood, not to mention someone with a high global IQ.  We also want a curious individual who is ready to contribute and debate on the strategic issues that Netflix confronts.  A strong interest in TV/movie content is a huge plus.  Experience in the domain is an even bigger plus.  Our goal is nothing short of revolutionizing the way video content is produced around the world.
