The Content Planning and Analysis team is looking for a Research Manager. The role will be responsible for identifying and securing external research about our business, industry and markets. Relevant sources may include company filings, financial news sources, third party syndicated data sets and government and industry organizations. When combined with our internal data and analysis, this information will enable us to deliver the most joy possible to Netflix subscribers.  The manager position will be based in our Hollywood office and work closely with the Director of Content Planning & Analysis.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Identify and evaluate third party research and data to assist content buying decisions
  • Negotiate and manage relationships with research vendors
  • Assist in formulating analytical frameworks especially as it pertains to the usage of third party data
  • Disseminate and present information across related teams and be responsible for the ‘single source of truth’ to ensure company alignment
  • Work cross-functionally with our Data Engineering & Analysis and Science & Algorithms teams to assist in data ingestion and advanced analytics


  • 5+ years prior experience in a research role. Experience at a studio, television or digital network helpful but not required
  • Ideal candidates should demonstrate significant knowledge of media and entertainment measurement and syndicated data sources and resourcefulness in finding actionable information when none exist
  • Candidates are required to be highly analytical and be strong, effective communicators. Ideal candidates will have a proven track record of delivering actionable recommendations based on their analysis
  • The successful candidate must display initiative in anticipating and exceeding the business demands of senior-level business managers. He/She must thrive in a fast-paced environment and exhibit the highest personal and professional standards of integrity and ethics
  • Netflix is fast-growing with a flat organizational structure, which means that employees are often asked to perform tasks with a range of difficulties. Candidate must be motivated, disciplined, flexible, and be able to work effectively autonomously
  • Superior proficiency with Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • 4-year degree in relevant field with strong academic performance; MBA a plus but not required
