Senior Data Engineer - Product Analytics

Netflix, Los Gatos, California

Leading subscription service for watching TV episodes and movies

Duration: Full-Time

The Product Data Engineering team is responsible for most of the large, web-scale datasets used at Netflix for analyzing the member experience. This means that we build datasets for the purpose of experimentation, analysis, and product innovation. We also collaborate with predictive modeling experts to build production data pipelines.

Given the size/complexity of our data, this is not a trivial task. Nearly every engineer at Netflix depends on this data, and as a member of this team you would be at the center of product innovation. This includes projects like:

• Determining the efficacy of our original content targeting algorithms
• Building datasets in partnership with the catalog ranking (and page construction) teams
• Partnering with our Experimentation Platform team and creating source datasets to track A/B tests
• Defining metrics to determine how customers are interacting with the service
• Partnering with UI engineering teams to enable new customer experiences

The right person for this role will have a background in a quantitative/technical field, will have rich experience working with large data sets, and will have experience in data-driven decision making.

  • You are a technical thought leader.   You will be responsible for developing and evolving the technical vision for data systems in the Product domain.
