Applied Researcher - Experimentation

Netflix maintains a relentless focus on experimentation to continually improve our product. We are seeking a talented applied researcher to improve our experimentation methods to enable faster and better decisions. As part of our Science and Algorithms team, you will drive Netflix A/B testing culture and accelerate product innovation for over 100 million members worldwide.


  • Research and evaluate statistical methods to improve our experimentation practice. Develop best practices for conducting and interpreting experiments. A sample of our on-going projects: evaluate multiple hypothesis correction techniques, evolve our stratified sampling assignment to reduce variance (paper), develop a framework for evaluating metrics, explore sequential testing techniques.
  • Partner with our experimentation platform team to drive the implementation of methodological improvements.


  • Phd degree in Statistics, Econometrics or related field
  • 5+ years relevant industry experience driving experimentation methods at scale.
  • Deep understanding of statistics applied to AB testing
  • Experience with distributed analytic processing technologies (Hadoop, Hive, Pig, Presto, MapReduce, Spark)  & strong programming skills (ideally in Python or R)
  • Self-starter
