Newsday has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Distribution Logistics Manager.
Reporting to the Director of Distribution Logistics, this position is responsible for the strategic planning and analysis of our distribution network. The environment is fast paced and requires an understanding of our supply chain partner’s production and delivery capabilities, our alternate product portfolio and how they interact and effect our independent distribution network. This position supports efforts to improve service, reduce supply chain costs using problem-solving skill sets and methodologies and incorporating data-driven decisions. The Manager, Distribution Logistics also manages our employee based courier drive force.

•Working knowledge of financial reporting and budget planning process
•Knowledge of USPS regulations, forms and reports
•Identify and analyze opportunities for operational process improvements that result in an increase in efficiency and/or customer service and make recommendations for implementation.
•Leverage distribution network by leading the planning and implementation for the distribution of other publications and address-specific products, including product logistics, delivery fee recommendations, and development of processes and accountability to meet customer expectations.
•Leads and manages all actions associated with the successful planning, execution and maintenance of alternate delivery clients and other address-specific products.
•Responsibility for the successful negotiation, coordination and timing of project plans, customer data transmission protocols, and related processes with alternate delivery clients and vendors and internal customers.
•Leads departmental planning for effective integration of products into distribution systems for optimal efficiency and accuracy
•Leads all planning, analysis, including logistical time studies and service impacts, and budgets for distribution depots, including efforts to optimize efficiency through consolidation or otherwise and in consideration of current and future alternate delivery products.
•Flexibility to work in a variety of office and warehouse type facilities with ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
•Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
•Car, valid driver’s license and clean driving record
•Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
