We're making online education effective and engaging

NovoEd is seeking a Marketing Associate Intern to help us transform the delivery of online education.  Located in downtown San Francisco, NovoEd is an online education startup that focuses on collaborative, project-based learning in the higher-education and corporate learning & development (L&D) space.

We are looking for an intern who will embrace the challenges of building a business from the ground up, who is excited to be part of a close-knit team, and who will be creative and determined in confronting challenges and building solutions.  The internship can be full time or part time (at least 15 hours/week).

We are looking for a marketing "jack-of-all-trades" who will drive consumer (B2C) and enterprise (B2B) marketing, including community management (social media, blog, etc), sales enablement, collateral generation, and more.



  • Oversee NovoEd’s audience growth and customer engagement with a focus on various specializations: E-mail, SEO, Social Media, Content Strategy, Branding, etc.

  • Understand and measure levers for traffic growth and customer acquisition, use them continuously to optimize traffic across NovoEd’s free and paid course offerings.

  • Support NovoEd’s corporate sales efforts through presentation development, demo course creation, lead gen campaigns and outreach

  • Build out NovoEd’s customer database, improve the company’s ability to understand, segment and target existing and prospective targets via a variety of online channels.

  • Develop an ongoing marketing roadmap to drive aggressive audience growth and paid course revenue targets through key levers and map growth against it.  Test, measure, and learn to continuously improve performance.

  • Contribute to product development strategy as it relates to customer relationship management and data.

  • Work with the other members of the partner management team to collaborate with NovoEd’s partners on initiatives that will be beneficial to both parties in traffic and revenue growth.

  • Identify, screen, and recommend deals with strategic technology vendors that facilitate audience maximization.

  • Stay up-to-date on all major trends in the education technology ecosystem with an eye towards leveraging them to NovoEd’s advantage.

  • Collaborate cross-­functionally with the partnerships, course operations, and engineering teams to execute projects, define metrics, and measure results.


The successful candidate will have: 

  • Strong writing and communications skills

  • Intimate knowledge of social media platforms

  • A passion for education, digital media, and the future of content consumption.

  • Ability to manage cross-functional projects: defining objectives, writing requirements, collaborating across multiple teams and managers, and overseeing development.

  • Strong quantitative skills and background in growing and measuring traffic from social and other forms of inbound marketing, using data and analytics to make decisions and drive results.

  • Innate data­-driven skills to identify unrealized opportunities for audience and revenue growth.

  • Ability to quickly master new technologies.

  • Experience managing development, design and editorial resources.


These skills and qualifications are a plus:

  • 2+ years of experience in online marketing or at a high-growth digital commerce business

  • Experience in audience development at a media company

  • Experience in product management or product marketing at a technology company

  • Deep knowledge of experimentation techniques, social, and viral mechanics

  • Skill with web analytics platforms i.e. Adobe SiteCatalyst, Google Analytics, Facebook/Twitter Analytics, FollowerWonk, HootSuite, Gigya etc.

  • SEO/SEM experience including Moz, Conductor, Rio SEO or other SEO tools
