Optimus Ride headquarters are located in the Boston Seaport District. The Role
The Technical Associate will be the designated technical lead on the shift that they are assigned to. They will be the first point-of-contact for any hardware or software related issues. Technical Associates will collect all issues from staff, evaluate them to the fullest extent possible, report issues directly to the appropriate engineering team members, and track the status of issues to ensure they are addressed in a timely manner.

Additionally, this role will have exposure to several different facets of an autonomous mobility service operation. For example, Associates will also perform all on- and off-vehicle operations required for successful service.

There will be a Technical Associate for each deployed site and on each shift (AM / PM) of the 12 hour weekday service operation. Technical Associates will report directly to the Market Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to assigned site during designated shift (AM or PM)
  • Prepare the vehicle software for driving (software updates, sensor calibration, etc.)
  • First responder to any technical issue, hardware or software
  • Basic debugging of any issues to the best of their capabilities
  • Reporting technical issues to the appropriate engineering team members and thoroughly documenting any failures
  • Interfacing with field service engineers, both in person and remotely, and coordinating any remote debugging efforts as suggested by engineering team
  • Coordinating any additional testing required to help evaluate technical issues
  • Tracking technical issues to ensure they are addressed
  • Performing minor hardware fixes and changes including sensor installation and calibration

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a tester
  • Demonstrated strong technical computer skills throughout training and service operations
  • Comfort with basic debugging tasks and familiarity with Linux operating environment
  • Strong command line interface skills
  • Hands-on experience of some kind; artistic, automotive, industrial, etc.
  • Ability to recognize and track both hardware and software issues
  • Excellent team member - punctual, reliable, and honest

Bonus

  • Degree or experience in IT
  • Familiarity with Git
  • Knowledge of a compiled or interpreted language (C, C++, Java, Python, etc.)
  • Experience debugging custom computer and sensor networks
  • Previous experience maintaining cars (professionally or personally)
