We are changing how health insurance works. We want to create a healthcare experience that’s intuitive and puts people, not cost or workflows, first. We’re using a consumer-focused and tech-driven approach to do so. This positions us uniquely in the space and creates one of the biggest opportunities in healthcare.
We brought together leaders from top technology, service and healthcare companies to deliver on our promise and seize this opportunity. We all work side by side in a collaborative, energetic, and creative environment. The result: better people, better ideas and better healthcare.
What is this position?
The role will provide a 360 degree experience working in private accounting, including involvement in the financial statement close process, transactional accounting, accounting policy, GAAP / statutory reporting, treasury management, vendor management and much more.
The candidate will be a key member in a dynamic environment, working directly with Financial Reporting Managers and the Chief Accounting Officer, and will also collaborate with teams both inside and outside the organization, such as our operations teams, actuaries, FP&A, and the external auditors.
Consistent with our business plan, this position will have the opportunity to expand responsibilities. We understand and value technology, so this can become a powerful part of your tool kit.
Who are you?
We are looking for an accounting professional that thrives in a fast paced startup environment. One who is not afraid to speak up, can bring both problems and potential solutions to individual/team discussions, can suggest improvements to processes based on prior experience/knowledge and who demonstrates complete ownership of their work product. Similar to the current team, you should think big but appreciate the importance of attention to details. A motivated leader with an innovative mindset who enjoys challenging work and is not afraid to run towards “fire”.
Must have qualifications include;
- 2-3 years of experience at a “Big 4” accounting firm in an audit or related role, or
- 5+ years of experience owning the financial statement close process at a company of similar size, which includes preparing/reviewing JEs, preparing/reviewing financial statements, managing the monthly close process and preparing/reviewing analytics
- Strong performance ratings
- BS degree in accounting or related field (CPA strongly preferred)
We think it will make a big (positive) difference if you have...
- Statutory accounting experience in Health, Life and/or P&C insurance in the US
- Experience in an internal accounting role
- Experience working at a startup
- Worked with our current platforms: Netsuite, Concur, Bill.com, TriNet
- Experience working with SQL
