As a Technical Accountant at Palantir you will work independently and report to the Head of Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting. You will be responsible for a number of projects including analyzing and reviewing unique and complex transactions, and driving compliance with the adoption of new accounting standards. You will provide direction on technical accounting issues and explain the accounting impact to your partners on various teams including Business Development/Sales, Legal, and Finance. This role will be a key player in determining technical accounting solutions to unique business transactions.
Act as a technical accounting resource for the Company by researching, resolving and documenting accounting issues that arise during the year under US GAAP.
Assess the impact of new and proposed accounting pronouncements and standards to ensure compliance with GAAP reporting requirements.
Partner cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to ensure the accurate accounting for complex transactions and lead implementation of new accounting requirements.
Work actively with external auditors to ensure that accounting interpretations and conclusions adhere to GAAP, including the preparation of related analysis and accounting memos.
Build cross-functional working relationships within the Company.
Lead or participate in special projects as necessary.
What We Value
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
6+ years’ experience within a large public accounting firm and/or an enterprise software company.
Excellent US GAAP accounting theory research and application skills. IFRS experience is preferred but not required.
Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to proficiently research and summarize key accounting issues.
Strong technical mindset, problem solving and project management skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
VIE, ASC 842 - Leases, ASC 606 - Revenue from Customers and Stock-based compensation accounting experience is preferred.
CPA is preferred.
