Business Operations and Strategy

Palantir Technologies, London, United Kingdom

Palantir builds software that connects data, technologies, humans and environments.

A World-Changing Company

At Palantir, we’re passionate about building software that solves problems. We partner with the most important institutions in the world to transform how they use data and technology. Our software has been used to stop terrorist attacks, discover new medicines, gain an edge in global financial markets, and more. If these types of projects excite you, we'd love for you to join us.

The Business Strategy and Operations Team

The Business Strategy and Operations team is made up of people from a wide array of backgrounds. We have in common a desire to push our intellect, a drive for excellence, communication skills, and a relentless focus to own the outcomes of our work. We are placed on challenging, rewarding projects throughout Palantir, and seeking similarly motivated people to join our team.

The day-to-day specifics of members of our team vary, but typically involve a hybrid of analytical, strategic, and operational skills. As a member of our team, you would embed deeply within one of Palantir's 3 business areas:

• Customer implementation: team members in this space enable our customers to solve their hard problems using Palantir's products.
• Product: team members in this space provide support to the engineering teams building out our core platforms.
• Internal: team members in this space help make critical decisions to fortify the backbone of Palantir.

In order to be successful, you must traverse everything from high-level strategy to nitty-gritty execution. You will dive deep into Palantir's own products and data systems to make decisions, you will be expected to be rigorous in regular planning and learning cadences, and you may often own the coordination between multiple parties to get the job done.

The Role

This is an expansive role where team members who perform well are able to choose their own professional path at Palantir, and focus on their preferred areas or specific projects of interest. While roles and project vary for each Business Strategy and Operations member, the commonality in our skillset includes:

Outcome ownership: Vision and strategy are great, but mean nothing without execution – so we start with a heavy focus on execution to make real-world outcomes happen faster. As a member of this team, you will be expected to help clarify and then achieve outcomes in varied and often ambiguous environments. Those outcomes get bigger and bigger as you progress!
High rate of learning: We are not singularly focused on strategy, analytics, or product - we have to develop proficiency in all of those areas to achieve outcomes. You will be expected to dive in and quickly learn data analytics, data modeling, and how to best use Palantir products to drive decisions and solve problems. You do not have to know all of these to start, but you should expect to quickly get deep into the weeds. Examples include team members quickly spinning up and having to credibly talk to microbiologists, special operations soldiers, or executive teams in diverse industries - with no prior background in those domains.
Excellent communication: We often work with many other Palantirians. In this role, you are expected to own the communication and coordination necessary to keep everyone up to speed – and solicit feedback from thought partners across Palantir to ensure you are focused on the right things.

Examples of past and current projects include building out the operational team for one of our flagship products, negotiating a first-of-its-kind healthcare data partnership, working on the ground with troops to ensure successful mission planning, and using internal data to make key decisions about the company's internal operations.

What We Value

  • BA/BS (or MA/MS) or equivalent experience.
  • Strong interest in developing technical skills used for analysis (e.g. SQL, Python).
  • Willingness to both solicit and give honest feedback.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical capabilities, and the ability to develop creative solutions for challenging, open-ended problems.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to credibly communicate technical and non-technical concepts to a broad, diverse audience.
  • Ability to quickly pick up new concepts, and dive into a problem with a solutions-oriented, outcome-focused mindset – even with no prior background in the subject matter.
  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time (e.g. to other Palantir offices, client locations, etc). Varies by location and focus.
If you need assistance or an accommodation due to a disability, you may contact us at [email protected].
