The VFX artist prototypes, creates and implements beautiful and dynamic in-game visual effects. The ideal candidate can create beautiful, performant in-game visual effects and should exhibit creativity, technical and artistic skills.
Own development and implementation of VFX for the project.
Work with the Creative and Art Directors to design the VFX style for the project in line with the visual design for the project.
As part of a small team of developers, own the design, development, and implementation of real-time particle effects.
Work closely with a mix of disciplines to craft visually compelling interactive sequences.
Prototype and create environmental and gameplay-driven effects.
Diagnose, optimize and troubleshoot visual effects for both quality and performance
VFX artist with 3+ years in the games or film industry. VFX artist credit on at least one shipped title.
Strong reel or portfolio demonstrating FX work.
Ability to work collaboratively and succeed in a small-team environment.
Possess a critical eye for timing, animation, and motion of real world objects and visual FX
Actively seeks feedback to improve work while also providing guidance and feedback to peers.
Familiarity with video game product development including, but not limited to: workflow, tools, particle systems, lighting, high and low poly modeling, texture paining, texture/UV animation, UV layout, in-game and sprite animation, dynamics and simulations, material setup, and engine parameters/optimizations.
Self-motivated, results-oriented, driven to create top quality visuals.
Demonstrate strong ability to manage time and prioritization, ensuring work is progressing according to schedules and projects goals.
Experience with Unreal Engine or similar development environment.
Relevant 2D and 3D software experience (Photoshop, After Effects, Maya, etc)
Experience with simulation tools such as Houdini for pyro, fluid, and soft/rigid body dynamics
Experience in a secondary area such as texturing, modeling, skinning, animation, or lighting
Experience with one or more scripting/programming languages
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
Enthusiasm for storytelling
