Quora is seeking an Account Executive. In this inside sales role, you’ll be responsible for evangelizing our advertising platform and building strong partnerships with brands that are new to Quora. We’re looking for someone who enjoys hunting and building new relationships, can think strategically, and has the drive to go the extra mile. We recently launched our first advertising products so you would be a founding member of the advertising sales team.

You'll primarily be responsible for acquiring new accounts through selling our performance marketing product. You will also partner with direct brands and/or agencies and contribute to the media planning of upcoming campaigns. We’re building a world-class sales organization, and the road ahead is going to be very exciting.

The ideal candidate will have business experience in a media and sales environment in an advertising business or agency. The successful candidate will also have experience in and around paid search and DR/Performance marketing campaigns in the entertainment, B2B, auto, technology or travel industries. We value direct and timely communication, creative insights, and expect you to advise and even challenge partners if it will help their brands ultimately be more successful on Quora. You will be a great fit in this role if you love creating relationships, being creative, wooing, advocating, exploring and bringing solutions to your partners. This position is based out of our Mountain View office. 


  • Source and close new business by offering our advertising solution to marketers
  • Prospect to potential clients, perform online and in-person presentations to media professionals, create RFP proposals and close accounts
  • Develop and execute sales strategy in a dynamic, small team environment
  • Reach and exceed KPIs consisting of outbound phone calls, emails, pitches and overall revenue goals.
  • Educate advertisers and agencies on owned, paid and earned media opportunities on the Quora platform in a way that is also great for the user experience
  • Lead activities that accelerate business growth with partners focusing on performance
  • Identify and grow opportunities within accounts at the appropriate setting and time
  • Participate in the creation of persuasive presentations and stories that demonstrate the value of Quora to performance marketers
  • Increase the effectiveness of the team by recognizing and communicating opportunities for new approaches
  • Manage the full sales-cycle, including contract generation and other deliverables for closing
  • Use Salesforce.com for lead management and sales forecasting
  • Ensure 100% satisfaction with all customers


  • 2 to 3 years recent sales experience in online advertising or media
  • Understanding of fundamentals of online advertising processes and technology
  • Experience in selling to one of the following industries: B2B, travel, auto, technology or entertainment
  • Exemplary verbal, written and listening communication skills with clients up to the C-level, along with the confidence and tact to respectfully challenge clients on strategic decisions
  • Comfortable working with a new product and serving as the point of contact to during on-boarding phase
  • Highly motivated and hard-working, and able to think clearly under pressure
  • Highly effective at interacting with external partners/customers and serving as a subject matter expert on Quora for brands
  • Action bias, ability to be a self-starter, overcome barriers and work collaboratively in a fast paced, challenging environment
  • Self-driven, detail-oriented, and open to manual processing required in early advertising platform development
  • Ability to effectively manage time, prioritize tasks and work within deadlines with little supervision
