As a Security Engineer at Remitly, you are our first line of defense, protecting our customers and our systems from hackers, fraudsters, and other information security threats. You will be responsible for advancing Remitly’s security posture, using both existing security tooling as well as designing and developing our own. We work closely with the infrastructure & IT teams to ensure that systems are deployed efficiently while exceeding our compliance and security obligations. We are responsible for providing timely security guidance to the rest of the organization on best practices, emerging threats, and potential vulnerabilities. We respond rapidly to security threats and work in concert with other engineering teams to ensure we consistently build secure systems that our customers can put their trust in. As a key member of the Security Team, you understand that building customer trust is critical to Remitly’s success. You are enthusiastic about information security, customer privacy, and maintaining the trust that has been placed in us. You are an experienced software engineer with a career focus in information security and a desire for continuous improvement. You will be entrusted to partner with product, operations, and engineering teams to provide your security expertise and guidance, and to help ensure secure services for our customers. You will work closely with our legal and compliance teams and our external auditors to ensure Remitly’s systems meet and exceed all applicable regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering and IT counterparts to improve data, network, and infrastructure security
- Design, build, and enhance IAM and authentication systems for internal services and APIs
- Refine and mature our detection and response capabilities
- Triage and coordinate patching and remediation of vulnerabilities
- Work with the security community at large to better address common threats
- BS/MS Computer Science or related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Bias for process improvement and automation
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Familiarity with Linux systems administration or DevOps experience
- Proficiency with Bash and/or Powershell
- Experience working with Amazon Web Services or another cloud provider
- Familiarity with at least one compliance regimen preferred (e.g.: PCI DSS, SOC 2, ISO 27001, etc.)
- Familiarity with generally-accepted security methods, concepts, and techniques
