About the Role:

Remitly.com is looking for an experienced Financial Crimes Compliance Analyst to ensure we follow internal policies, local jurisdiction banking laws and other applicable regulatory requirements. In this role the FinCrime Analyst will report to the Compliance Manager and will work with the AML monitoring team, internal partners (compliance, legal, etc.) as well external partners to minimize the threat of others using Remitly to conduct money laundering and other unwanted activity.

You Will:

  • Coordinate and review end-to-end financial crime risk assessments on customer accounts.
  • Ensure that financial crime risks are identified, assessed, managed and reported in a timely manner.
  • Evaluate internal reports and related filters to confirm Remitly is monitoring its customer base for compliance with the terms of its user agreement.
  • Lead periodic AML risk assessments and help implement needed corrective actions.
  • Work across teams to help develop compliant products, systems and tools.
  • Assist the Compliance Manager with projects on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Conduct ad hoc investigations on potentially risky areas as needed by the business.
  • Make decisions/recommendations on appropriate actions in relation to financial crime issues raised within the FinCrime process.
  • Identify and detect suspicious activity for remediation and ongoing monitoring/detection.
  • Evaluate corridor specific sending patterns to identify potential risks and trends.
  • Keep up-to-date on industry trends and investigation methodologies to strengthen Remitly's compliance program.

You Have:

  • Experience recognizing non-obvious patterns and create solutions for complex issues directly affecting the customer experience.
  • Experience working in an environment where decisions are made without compromising on customer experience and financial losses.
  • Experience making sound decisions as to non-suspicious and potentially suspicious activity.
  • A team player mentality, willing to share knowledge in a global team environment.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience of Fraud/AML/BSA/CTF transaction monitoring and investigations experience including SAR completion and reporting.
  • Direct experience in either e-commerce, banking or payments processor industries.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • CAMS or BSA/AML certifications preferred.
