About the Role

Rocket Lawyer is seeking an experienced, passionate Senior Engineer who wants to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. We’re spinning up a new team that will enhance the web application that serves our non-US based customers. You’ll be the first engineering hire in this team and will initially be responsible for changes to both front-end and back-end. You’ll be responsible for the entire software development lifecycle, agreeing requirements with the product team, coordinating releases and supporting your changes in production.

You’ll get up to speed on the existing codebase, supported by the existing Rocket Lawyer engineering team, understanding the bigger technical picture then work with the product manager to prioritise changes based on business requirements and effort to implement.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the entire Software Development Life Cycle of your code including development, test, production, and subsequent fixes and improvements
Understand and refine product requirements, align implementation with technical strategy
Facilitate the team’s scrum ceremonies, learning and improving process
Provide estimates and work with programme team to create delivery plan
Collaborate with other teams and manage dependencies
Set expectations for delivery and communicate progress
Actively participate in design and code reviews
Work with the Ops team on deployment and own team’s deployment pipelines

Experience

Proposing and leading technical solutions that customers love
Industry experience of delivery using Java (v8 or later) and latest JavaScript specification
Familiarity with frameworks such as Spring, SpringBoot and Angular
Proficient in HTML, CSS, automated testing frameworks and tools.
JPA, SQL preferably experience with Postgres
Experience designing and developing RESTful services/APIs
Experience with CI/CD, containers Docker and Kubernetes
Facilitation as a scrum master
