Who we're looking for:

As a Product Design Manager, you will lead a team of designers. You’ll help the team solve complex marketplace interactions and workflows into simple, intuitive experiences. This role is a mix of team management plus hands-on opportunities to contribute as a designer (you understand when it’s appropriate to roll your sleeves up). You will use your own strengths and previous experiences to coach and develop the team. The Product Design team is responsible for the core Rover marketplace experience on web, iOS, and Android. On the surface, we connect pet parents with pet sitters & dog walkers. Below the surface, we solve for service design challenges centralized around booking services, cross platform messaging, personalized scheduling, secure tracking, and payments. 

Your Responsibilities:

  • Build, manage, and grow a team of designers
  • Recruit new designers and drive the hiring process
  • Establish team processes and best practices to maintain a high bar of quality
  • Ensure that business objectives are clear, that owner needs are understood, and final solutions are high quality
  • Coordinate with product managers, tech leads, and business stakeholders to define and ensure that the teams’ work is executed as envisioned
  • Drive at least one project as a designer

Your Qualifications:

  • 5+ years in a management or leadership role on a design team
  • 5+ years of product design experience
  • An aptitude for candid transparency and team collaboration
  • Experience and expertise in high-level product strategy
  • Excellent communication skills
  • You are passionate about our core business
  • You revel in the opportunity to build and cultivate the individual skills of your team
  • You are hands-on and understand when to step in and get your hands dirty, and are comfortable doing so with creativity and incredible attention to detail
  • You move quickly between operating at a conceptual 10,000 ft. level all the way down to the surface
  • You have have designed and shipped best-in-class experiences for web, iOS, and Android
