Seesaw, San Francisco, CA or Open to Remote in the US

Student Driven Digital Portfolios

Duration: Full-Time

Our Growth Mindset (The Mission):
Think back on your time in school and a project or experience that got you fired up, curious, and motivated to try your best.  Can you remember one? If you’re like us, there are some projects we remember decades later -- those times when we were so engaged in what we were doing that we couldn’t help but learn.
Seesaw is a learning platform that brings educators, students and families together to deepen student learning. Teachers design and facilitate powerful learning experiences, students create, reflect, collaborate and make their learning visible, and families actively support and celebrate student learning. Seesaw is used by millions of K-12 students in over half the schools in the U.S.

The Curriculum (Your Role):
As Seesaw’s first FP&A hire, you will own our financial model and partner with the executive team to drive critical decisions. You will own the annual planning/budgeting process and subsequent reporting on performance vs. plan, provide monthly updated forecasts and assist with headcount management, and develop and own the operating plan and long-term financial model. You will calculate and monitor SaaS metrics and ratios and compare them to the industry benchmarks, develop quotas and territories in collaboration with Rev Ops, and use your strong business acumen to communicate results and recommendations to senior leadership.

Your Classmates (The Team):
You will be a key contributor and leader on our finance team, which includes a Director of Finance (who will be your manager), two Finance/Accounting Managers, a Financial Analyst, an Accounts Receivable Associate, and our external accounting firm and bookkeeper.

Subject Matter (Your Responsibilities):

  • Own our forecast and reporting of ARR, GAAP revenue, expenses, and cash and general financial, operational, and financial reporting
  • Develop operating model, sales/marketing funnel, assist with headcount management, and own other standard and ad hoc reporting to the Company’s key stakeholders and BOD
  • Drive annual planning and report actuals vs. budgets (BvAs) to budget owners on a monthly basis
  • Track SaaS metrics and make insightful recommendations to leadership based on this data
  • Working with Revenue Operations on setting quotas and territories for the Sales and customer success teams

Prerequisites (The Requirements):

  • 8+ years of progressive FP&A experience at a combination of B2B SaaS/tech startups, and an investment bank, management consulting firm, or corporate finance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related field
  • An organized self-starter who takes initiative to identify opportunities for department/company improvements, develop plans to remediate what you identify, and work cross functionally or independently to execute.
  • Persistence and intellectual curiosity to evaluate leading approaches, form a point of view, and to challenge senior executives
  • Excellent communicator (verbal and written) and a demonstrated ability to effectively lead and communicate with staff across all levels, functions, and external stakeholders
  • Results driven with a high level of ownership, initiative, teamwork, accountability, and integrity
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, G Suite, and related financial technology
