Sr. Software Security Engineer, Software Supply Chain Security

Block’s Information Security culture is focused on enabling our engineering teams to build and ship secure products. We achieve this by designing, building, and deploying state of the art security alongside our product and infrastructure teams.

The Software Supply Chain Security team, within Product Security, is focused on ensuring that Block’s code is secure from PR to Production. We blend third-party tooling with in-house systems to improve the security of many types of code including backend, frontend, infrastructure, and mobile.

You will: 

• Build systems that secure the entirety of Square's software supply chain.

• Integrate with our Github, CI/CD, and build attestation systems.

• Work cross-functionally with Square's infrastructure teams and other security teams.

• Learn about information security and apply that knowledge towards real-world problems.

• Work remotely or in any Square office location in the USA or Canada. Occasional travel may be required for team offsites. SSCS is a fully distributed team.

Desired Background: 

• You have experience as any of the following, or experience in similar job roles: programmer, developer, SWE, security engineer, devops engineer, infrastructure engineer, or cryptography engineer.

• You have experience developing and/or integrating components of a CI or CD system.

• You possess at least a users-level understanding of how certificates are used to sign or encrypt data.

• You have a strong desire to learn about information security and grow your career in the direction of InfoSec (prior experience in InfoSec not required).

• Experience with DevOps, infrastructure code, and similar is helpful but not required.
