StartEngine is the premier equity crowdfunding platform in the U.S., connecting millennials and aspiring investors with tomorrow’s progressive companies. StartEngine aims to revolutionize the startup business model by helping individuals invest in private companies on a public platform for the first time in history, thereby helping entrepreneurs achieve their dreams.
Why merely back a company when you could own a piece of it?
In this role, you’ll act as a reporter of sorts, interviewing entrepreneurs who seek to raise capital on StartEngine and compiling information about their businesses. With what’s gathered, you’ll deftly parry the business speak and weave compelling narratives and campaign pages that capture interest and yield investment dollars. We work with businesses in every sector (maybe some you’ve never heard of), so you’ll need to be inquisitive, adaptable and eager to learn.
You’ll do more than merely write and design, though. As a Creative Services Editor, you’ll also work with and develop other content creators, guiding them to produce high-caliber work while safeguarding our editorial standards. This being a startup environment, you’ll likely be called upon to contribute your creative and editorial energies in other ways, assisting with all manner of creative projects in other departments within StartEngine. (A good creative is hard to find!)
Simply, we’re looking for is someone who deftly wields the English language, has a preternatural knack for eye-catching design, and that doesn’t crack under the pressure tight deadlines (or the ever-shifting demands of entrepreneurs). We’re looking for someone that wants to grow, who takes initiative, tells it like it is, and identifies ways to build a better mousetrap.
Write, layout and edit campaign pages for companies raising capital on StartEngine.
Interface, usually on the phone, with startup CEOs to strategize creative direction.
Provide creative feedback to our team of contract writers and designers.
Elicit the best work in others, helping them to maximize their potential.
Meet or exceed deadlines, while ensuring high-quality work and accurate delivery.
2-3 years of experience with copywriting and design (you know your way around a CMS)
1-2 years of management or editorial experience (you’ve provided a pithy critique or many)
Excellent writing skills (you can write good)
Excellent grammar, punctuation and style instincts (you can write good well)
Strong communication skills (you’ve got the gift of gab)
Adept with the Adobe Creative Suite (definitely Photoshop, maybe something else?)
A professional, amicable and productive attitude (people lean on us creatives, you know)
Overview: We are seeking seeking smart, capable individuals prepared to hit the ground running. This is a rare opportunity to be a part of growing a new company, in a new industry. Candidates will work directly with StartEngine founders and learn, hands on, what it takes to build a successful company. The bad? This is not a 9-5 job. Be prepared put in the extra hours and tackle complex projects, outside of your comfort zone. It will not be easy. The good? StartEngine provides mentoring programs and facilitates learning opportunities so that employees grow to their greatest potential. We reward team members for all of that hard work. Think margarita taste-offs, team lunches and unlimited vacation. We also offer employees lucrative stock options. We want our team to help us grow the company and share in the upside.
