About this Job

As a web engineer at Strava, you’ll create the web experience for our athletes. From deeper activity analysis to improved social features, there is much more that we want to build and so much that we could improve – and you’ll play a key role. You’ll help us evolve the core technology and architecture which enables our applications to continue to scale to support our rapidly growing user base. You’ll also work to build out our API in support of the Strava mobile applications and third-party consumers.

Example Projects

  • Automatically detect and compare a runner's common loops
  • Improve performance of our web activity feed
  • Streamline / optimize registration and profile creation
  • Bring a club’s heatmap to life

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
  • Strong Ruby, Scala or Go experience
  • Demonstrated design and UX sensibilities
  • Disciplined approach to testing and quality assurance

Desired

  • Exposure to architectural patterns of a large, high-scale web application
  • Ruby-on-Rails in production environments
  • Extensive familiarity with JavaScript/CoffeeScript and web front-end development
