The Job:

FOOD & WINE and COOKING LIGHT are looking for an Associate Art Director with proven skills in developing concepts for stories, art directing photo shoots, and working collaboratively with editors, photographers, stylists, and/or illustrators. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a solid ability to perform and self-direct and to take on design responsibility for a large sections of the magazines. You Will:

  • Design smart and compelling layouts for all sections of the magazines
  • Manage stories from concept to final layout and shipping
  • Design infographics and logos for print and digital
  • Conceptualize and art direct photoshoots as needed
  • Research and assign illustration

 

You Have:

  • A minimum of 5 years national publication design experience
  • A strong, modern approach to typography and page design
  • The ability to think about content first and understand how to visually translate a story and idea
  • A strong awareness of current design trends, photographers and illustrators
  • Excellent people and communication skills
  • The ability to multitask and prioritize to meet essential deadlines
  • An enthusiastic attitude, a highly organized work style, problem solving ability, and self-motivation
