The job:

The Time Inc. office in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst. The Senior Analyst will serve as a key liaison with business offices in New York and Bangalore, as well as with local editorial, marketing and other operating teams. S/he will manage or assist with monthly reporting, variance analysis, forecasting and other financial projects.

You Will:

  • Manage the monthly close process and regular budgets/forecast cycles
  • Forecast revenue and operating expenses; load and maintain departmental budgets
  • Create journal entries
  • Build and maintain detailed financial reports
  • Analyze, interpret and communicate budget variances
  • Lead financial review meetings
  • Communicate with operating teams (editorial, marketing, etc.) to provide financial updates and facilitate active budget management
  • Prepare ad hoc analyses and reports
  • Liaise with Time Inc. Central Finance and offshore teams
  • Oversee the work of other analysts as needed
  • Advocate and maintain strong financial controls
  • Focus on continuous improvement – i.e., find efficiencies and opportunities to streamline workflows

 You Are:

  • Highly qualified, with a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.  2-5 years of experience in a similar accounting/finance/FP&A role.  Advanced degrees or certifications a plus (MBA, MA, CPA, CMA, etc.)
  • Supremely organized; adept at juggling multiple projects and deadlines
  • An Excel whiz, who can work comfortably with pivot tables, advanced formulas and macros
  • Comfortable interacting with all levels of personnel, senior management and external parties
  • Highly analytic and detail oriented
  • A quick learner and problem solver; adaptable to changing business demands
  • Able to work effectively under pressure … and work independently or as part of a team
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills
