We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to lead External Communications on a maternity leave contract and help shape the story of Top Hat now and into the future. If you think you're up for the challenge, we’d love to hear from you.

About this role:

  • You will be covering up to 12-month maternity leave.
  • You will train and provide strategic advice and direction to company executives and spokespeople for media interviews, presentations, events, and more.
  • You will work closely with our marketing team to identify, plan, and execute media relations, event and social media  tactics to support product launches.
  • You will collaborate closely with other marketing leaders to ensure our external communications  program complements and enhances all of our brand awareness and demand generation initiatives.
  • You will ensure the Top Hat narrative is communicated impactfully, effectively, and consistently to media, influencers, and industry analysts and leverage every opportunity to move the Top Hat brand forward.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of our important Corporate Social Responsibility work.  
  • You will work closely with our customer marketing team, account management team, and our customers to ensure we have customer spokespeople on tap for media opportunities and events.
  • You will monitor and measure Top Hat’s presence in the media, and partner with the marketing team on social media management. 
  • You will provide support to all internal and external stakeholders to protect and further the Top Hat brand.

  • You are focused on achieving results specific to external communications  as well as contributing to the overall success of the marketing team.
  • You can work with executives to build effective corporate, brand product messaging.
  • You are capable of securing high-level media coverage in the United States and Canada and have a comprehensive understanding of the tech, edtech and business media landscape, including: national magazines, national newspapers, broadcast, blogs, radio, trade magazines, webinars, podcasts, and more.
  • You excel in fast-paced, ever-changing environments.
