Senior Product Owner, White Label Solutions
We make train travel easy
Trainline is an innovative, web based travel business focused on helping its customers make smarter journeys every day, saving them money and hassle. Our website is the one of the largest e-commerce sites and 3rd most downloaded travel app in the UK. Today, we have 12.5 million active customers generating 45 million visits per month across 24 European countries.
Our culture is central to our success. We’re driven to sustain our phenomenal growth from recent years, and this means we’re always working closely and collaboratively to turn our ideas into reality. It’s this sense of pace, innovating and improving pretty much everything we do, that makes Trainline so exciting and unique.
To support our ambitious commercial goals, we’re expanding our world-class Product division, led by Jonathon Moore (a Product leader in Digital & Technology) to drive the next stage of our development. The goals are ambitious and the mandate is clear – to make travel more personal.
The White Label Solutions team acts as an agency within Trainline developing ecommerce retail products for our clients in the Rail industry. As Senior Product Owner, your challenge will be to lead the next chapter of the development of Trainline’s product propositionin this space across web, mobile, e-ticket and smart card. You’ll be validating new disruptive ideas for our clients whilst optimising our delivery team and accelerate growth with a view to building a broader, international function to support Trainline’s ambitious strategy for expansion.
You’ll be joining a growing, highly talented Product team and working in small, agile, full stack teams alongside Designers, Product Researchers, Data Scientists and Engineers to help us revolutionise the travel experience and develop market leading products and features. Your work will span a variety of clients stretching to multiple territories over time, and so you’ll need to build strong relationships to ensure their broader objectives are understood and met.
As an evangelist for change, it will be your responsibility to create step-change, multi-platform solutionsfor our clients taking a ‘mobile first’ approach. We have recently brought this part of our product development in house, and you’ll be tasked with taking this to the next level by building out a centre of excellence. Your goal will be to transform the product proposition for our white label products through technology and innovation, as well as spotting commercial opportunities to enhance our product portfolio.
We work at speed and employ a ‘build/test/learn’ mentality around product. To this end, you’ll be developing creative ways to fulfil clients’ needs whilst finding the best results for the end customer. This is a truly career defining role for someone passionate about product management looking for an opportunity to disrupt and define a product that will change the way people travel impacting millions of people every day.
We’re looking for creative big thinkers with small egos to achieve our ambitious plans. Most importantly, you’ll possess a passion for building amazing products that clients love, and will ideally bring broad Product know-how from a white label, saas or possibly agency environment.
Your great Product credentials go without saying particularly in the technical back-end space, and you’ll understand that Product teams fail as many times as they succeed albeit you’re capable of getting to the root of these challenges. In addition, you should have a solid story to tell around managing a remote, off-shore tech team.
With broad experience in managing multiple clients, it’s vital you can demonstrate clarity of vision based on insight whilst satisfying their needs. To this end, you’ll have strong communication skills with a professional subtlety in your influencing style and an ability to tell the story around this division.
You’ll understand the importance of making robust data-driven decisions and will bring a good balance of quantitative and qualitative skills as well as a track record of working with rapid, iterative “customer led” design and development processes. You must also have experience of working closely within an agile development team prioritizing work and setting sprint goals as appropriate. International experience would also be useful, as would a track record in scaling a solution across multiple territories.
