We are looking for a mid-level commercial counsel to join our growing legal team in Singapore. You will be responsible for partnering with Twilio’s sales team and other internal stakeholders to manage large volumes of deals through review, negotiation and signing. You will be required to give ad-hoc legal advice on various issues and to take ownership leading projects on process improvement.

You must have a positive can-do attitude and thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and be eager to get involved in different projects. You must dedicated to providing excellent customer service by wearing your customers shoes, and being empathetic. Be an individual who pays attention to detail, has excellent judgment and people skills. You should be someone who does not indulge in shenanigans, with keen interest for learning new things and improving performance. Of course, we are looking for someone who is eager to be a contributing member of a fun, supportive and high functioning team. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Qualified lawyer (APAC qualifications preferred) with strong academic credentials and demonstrated record of success or experience as a lawyer
  • 3 + years of corporate transaction experience with experience with commercial contracts with a mix of in-house and law firm experience.
  • Ability to structure, draft and negotiate a high volume and broad range of contracts, including sales, partnership, licensing, professional services and NDA’s.
  • Good knowledge of privacy regulations, including but not limited to, GDPR and experienced with handling and dealing with privacy related questions in contract negotiations. 
  • Proven ability to provide entrepreneurial, quick-thinking, pragmatic, business-oriented advice and to properly balance risks and business reward.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to advocate for a position while maintaining collaborative and open-minded approach.
  • Appropriately triage a heavy workflow, setting appropriate priorities with clients and delivering results efficiently.
  • Exercise mature and reliable judgment while enjoying the company's enthusiastic, informal and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team.
  • Thinks creatively and continuously devises solutions to drive and improve internal processes.
  • Experience with Salesforce, DocuSign and JIRA systems.
  • Experience in initiating and managing internal projects for process improvement.
  • Exercise mature and reliable judgment while enjoying the company's enthusiastic, informal and fast-paced environment.

What?

As Commercial Counsel, you will:

  • Draft, review, negotiate and manage a wide range of legal agreements.
  • Advise Twilio’s internal clients on contract interpretation and negotiation.
  • Assist with the development of policies and procedures, and standard template language to be used in contracts.
  • Train and advise contract specialists on the Legal Team on the preparation, negotiation and execution of form-based agreements.
  • Create processes and procedures to help support a rapidly-growing, global business.
  • Champion Twilio’s mission, ethics and integrity by ensuring that Twilio’s compliance policies are in practice and protect the company from risk, comply with all applicable local laws and regulations, and are in line with Twilio’s values.
