Twilio is growing rapidly and is looking for a talented, passionate and curious Principal Software Engineer to be a key leader in extending Twilio’s platform to International customers. This person will be technical leader of a newly formed team that builds a common translation and localization platform that will power Twilio’s developer console, docs, products, and other web properties. This position is critical in supporting Twilio’s International expansion and will build a platform that provides leverage to Twilio’s product and engineering teams.

Who?


Twilio is looking for a leader who lives the Twilio Magic and has a demonstrated track record of technical leadership.  They also have:

  • 7+ years of JavaScript experience with deep familiarity with best coding standards and proven record of high quality coding skills
  • 5+ years experience with the modern Web stack: notably React, Typescript, and Node.js. If you've worked with other frameworks (like Vue or Ember) that's a plus as well
  • Well versed (and opinionated) on what makes a good REST API. Experience in Java, Python, C++, or C#
  • Good working knowledge with cloud service providers and highly distributed systems
  • Aptitude for leading cross-team technical discussions and decisions
  • Strong technical and leadership acumen - Lead technical decisions for your team and influence technical decisions across your functional domains.
  • Expertise leading technical decision-making in collaboration with architecture and product needs to determine appropriate technologies for delivering an excellent customer experience
  • Expertise in agile processes, continuous integration, and test automation
  • Experience building and supporting mission critical, performant user-facing systems
  • Experience with building web localization frameworks, workflow/translation pipelines, and test/validation tools
