About the Role

As an Infrastructure Engineer at Tyro, you will be responsible for designing, improving, and supporting Tyro's production infrastructure (compute, storage, and network). You will be the subject matter expert for everything networking and will be making an impact with your excellent knowledge of compute and storage technology as part of the infrastructure team, reporting to the Head of IT infrastructure.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Be the subject matter expert and final point of escalation for Tyro's on premise networking (routing, switching, and firewalls) and load balancers (F5).
  • Lead the design, implementation, maintenance and regular patching of compute, storage, and network infrastructure in 24/7 production data centres.
  • Lead POCs on exciting new infrastructure technologies
  • Respond to and own system alerts, prioritising and resolving production incidents to restore service.
  • Constantly learn, deploy, and support new technologies (containers, service mesh, cloud migration, infrastructure automation, etc)
  • Take a rotating pager for after hours escalation (one week a month or less).
  • Be a technical and project leader on process and infrastructure improvements

About You:

  • You are a subject matter expert on routing and switching: BGP, OSPF, redistribution, vrf, tunneling
  • You are a subject matter expert on F5 load balancer technology 
  • You are a subject matter expert on Palo Alto and Checkpoint firewalls
  • You live and breathe Data Center technologies (cross connects installation, rack and stack, server maintenance)
  • You have experience automating tasks instead of manually managing systems (scripting: Powershell, python, bash, etc).
  • You are a subject matter expert on AWS to on premise connectivity (Direct connect, VPC connectivity, Transit gateways, Route53)

Nice to have:

  • Advanced Linux knowledge (RHCA or above) is highly regarded
  • Advanced VMware esxi knowledge is highly regarded
  • NSX knowledge is highly advantageous
  • Advanced storage technology knowledge (Netapp, pure storage, brocade FC) is highly advantegous
  • Expertise in time series monitoring software (influxdb, prometheus, grafana, telegraf, etc) and infrastructure monitoring software (PRTG, scrutinizer)
