Position Summary:

Velodyne LiDAR is the world’s leader in real-time 3D LiDAR sensors for applications ranging from autonomous driving, high-resolution mapping and robotic perception to drone surveying/navigation and providing perimeter security/surveillance.  The company serves many different industries including automotive, industrial and smart cities. 

Velodyne LiDAR is seeking an experienced and highly driven sales professional to join our rapidly growing team.  The Account Manager will be responsible for building Velodyne’ s business in the commercial and Industrial markets.  This resource will help Velodyne penetrate and drive business at key OEMs through “design wins” leading to long-term high volume purchase contracts.  The ideal candidate will be proficient at understanding customer requirements, aligning capabilities and managing resources and expectations to meet corporate objectives.  This position that will have high visibility within the company.

 Essential Functions, Skills, and Abilities: 

  1. Follows a disciplined sales process for delivering consistent results that meet or exceed expectations
  2. Ability to understand and articulate client objectives while establishing alignment between these needs and our solutions
  3. Experience hunting for new business by building or leveraging existing relationships with key decision makers at large strategic accounts
  4. Good at building credibility internally to coalesce resources around a business objective
  5. Facilitates and helps influence organizational change to take on complex challenges
  6. Accountable for results – history of meeting or exceeding performance objectives
  7. Strong customer presence and verbal communication skills
  8. Solid organization skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
  9. Ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic and matrixed organization 
  10. Proficient with CRM (preferably Salesforce.com) 

Minimum education and work experience required: 

  1. A Bachelor’s Degree preferably in the field of computer science or engineering
  2. Minimum of 7 years selling experience in the automotive, industrial truck, military, robotics industry.
  3. Engineering experience with vehicle application of some of the following : Autonomous systems radar, camera, Lidar, functional safety, embedded software, controls, ADAS.
  4. Business development background, including demonstrated ability in effectively deliver strategy and value (feature/ benefit) selling 
  5. Strong business and commercial skills with an understanding of financial drivers and shareholder value; solid knowledge of industry-standard legal and business language, including familiarity with contracts, NDAs, IP, payment terms, proposals, pricing, margins 
  6. Established network in industry and product group
