Job Summary: 

Velodyne LiDAR is exploding in size as the company is aiming to bring self-driving cars to the market as soon as 2020. Velodyne is gearing up for mass production now! Help Velodyne’s team during this exciting time!

Responsible for studying and planning operations for the effective utilization of personnel, material, machines and facilities where decisions are made within the limits of general practices and policies.  Work also involves occasional instruction and training of a small group of employees.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepares designs and layouts for review
  • Prepares specifications for bids, evaluates bids, and make recommendations
  • Provides technical assistance on problems in maintenance areas
  • Estimates labor and material requirements for engineering construction projects
  • Designs mechanical systems and sub-systems
  • Monitors and adheres to recommended safety requirements
  • Establishes a course of action to accomplish completion of the job and/or project
  • Keeps abreast of current product developments and trends in areas of expertise
  • Assists in establishing operational methods and work standards using various measurement techniques.
  • Analyzes existing operations and proposes cost justified improvements
  • Optimizes use of floor space, materials, personnel and equipment


Job Requirements: 

  • High level of analytical ability where problems are complex
  • Knowledge of work measurement and work standards
  • Knowledge of basic manufacturing and assembly processes
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
  • Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area required
  • Appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with business partners to meet mutual goals required
  • Knowledge of computer software as it pertains to engineering a plus



  • Bachelor degree with a major in Industrial Engineering or equivalent training
