Engineering Technician - Temp (swing shift)

Velodyne, San Jose, CA


The Engineering Technician will support Manufacturing Engineers to get products scaled from prototype to high-volume manufacturing in a fast-paced environment. You will work with Engineers in Testing activities.

 Specific Job Responsibilities:

  • PD testing execution from draft MPI
  • NFA testing execution from draft MPI
  • Setup HW, align, measurement, documentation, reporting
  • Create and update documentation such as Manufacturing Process Instructions (MPIs) and visual aids
  • Support implementation of engineering change orders and process deviations
  • Support process data collection and analysis
  • Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis
  • Support activities pertaining to cycle time, workstation, fixturing and process improvement
  • Identify ways to reduce production costs through recommendations – i.e., new process equipment, equipment justification to improve performance
  • Participate in special improvement projects
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Engineers

 Required Education and Skill requirements:

  • AS or BS degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related fields
  • 1-5 years of relevant experience

Preferred Education and Skills Requirements:

  • Proficient in written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiar with MS Office tools such MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Understanding of manufacturing basics, BOM and documentation control process
  • Knowledgeable in PCBA and system assembly a plus
  • Technical writing experience is a plus
