Senior Technical Project Manager | Corporate IT

This candidate will join the Corporate Information Technology Project Management Office (PMO) executing projects in the Mergers and Acquisitions and Finance space. The project manager will be responsible for successful project delivery while working with matrixed teams comprised of Systems Analyst, Vendor, Development, Quality Assurance Testing, Security, Privacy, Operations, and Finance Business partners.

Essential Functions

  • Partnering with Business and IT Development and PMO leadership, manage projects, including: Working with business and technology subject matter experts to define scope, create accurate and inclusive estimates, develop budgets and project plans, and produce high quality project charters and other planning documentation needed for funding approvals.
  • Direct project activities, conduct reviews, manage risk mitigation, issues, change control processes, and communicate status to senior executives within the development and business partner organizations, using escalation paths as appropriate to ensure project success
  • Manage and track project budgets, forecasts and schedules to achieve target scope, schedule and cost.
  • Ensure that all Corporate Information Technology projects are in compliance with Visa's internal Project Management Methodology and Key Controls and that accurate and timely information is collected and reported regularly on project progress and financial status
  • Schedule and chair effective meetings with appropriate attendees, agendas, timely minutes, and follow-up
  • Establish a baseline communication plan and deliver timely communications that are appropriately tailored to audiences
  • Achieve project goals by collaborating with stakeholders at all management levels across Visa, including architects and strategists, technical IT subject matter experts, business partners, vendors, and Visa senior management. Demonstrate skills in conflict management and negotiation to achieve project goals and develop trust with stakeholders
  • Embrace teamwork while promoting a culture of openness and flexibility
  • Work with vendors to develop, review and execute contracts

Basic Qualifications
• 8 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 6 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree
• Minimum of 8 years of project and program management experience leading technical teams in the delivery of large and medium scale software development, operational and integration efforts, preferably with a focus in Mergers and Acquisitions or Finance Technology

Preferred Qualifications
• Minimum of 12 years of project and program management experience leading technical teams in the delivery of large and medium scale software development, operational and integration efforts, preferably with a focus in Mergers and Acquisitions or Finance Technology
• Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills are required. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate technical and business issues and solutions to multiple organizational levels
• Ability to understand complex business needs and requirements related to Finance system solutions
• Working knowledge of the software development lifecycle from requirements gathering to post-implementation production support, including quality assurance and system integration
• Strong process orientation and a solid understanding of project management techniques, methodologies and best practices
• Demonstrated investment in continuous learning in foundational project and program management principles as well as industry trends (technology, delivery methodology, payment industry, fintech, etc.)
• Self-motivated and able to coordinate activities with cross-divisional teams in remote locations
• Team player; able to communicate with technical and business experts at all levels of the organization
• Solid analytical skills; able to think strategically and creatively
• Proven experience in managing people, process and project in a heavily matrixed organization structure
• Strong process orientation and a solid understanding of project management techniques, methodologies and best practices

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
