Visa is seeking a Lead Solution Architect focusing on Web development within the Commercial Product Development team and Data Pipeline, Data Analytics and AI model within the Commercial Product Development team, which is a part of Visa's Data Product Development organization and is responsible for designing, developing and managing 20+ Information products and services for Visa's Commercial line of products. Our range of products include data processing platforms, BI reporting and data mining solutions, B2B payments platform.  You will work on customer-facing web and mobile applications using cutting-edge open source frameworks, highly-available RESTful services, and back-end systems using the hottest technologies in Big Data.

You will drive technical solutions that have a direct impact on the payment industry. The solutions you design will be large scale, always available, secure, fast, accessible, and globally ready with an impact measured in future years.

Your solutions will be used by millions of people worldwide every minute of the day.  As the Lead Solution Architect, you will have the opportunity to bring your creative curiosity and technology experience to work every day and help build platforms and solutions that are consumed across Visa Business Data Solutions platforms to create seamless, fast, reliable and user-friendly experiences.

You will interact with organizational stake holders such as senior executives, senior leads, senior managers, senior product managers, and external partners. You will have the opportunity to build technical solutions and influence release roadmaps.

You will be an integral part of the Visa Business Data Solutions Team and have the opportunity to build the Long-Term Architecture that delivers on the organizational vision for consistency, quality, developer productivity, security, reusability, and availability across Visa's global infrastructure.

This position reports to Director, Visa IntelliLink Platform and will be based in Austin, TX. The successful candidate will be a Lead/developer focused on application development of critical data intensive applications.

  • Work with engineering leaders on long term architecture
  • Work on development of new products and enhancements to existing systems iteratively by building quick POCs and converting ideas into real products
  • Monitor health of the platforms and Generate Performance Reports and Monitor and provide continuous improvements
  • Identify opportunities for further enhancements and refinements to standards and processes
  • Work with product owners to understand the desired application capabilities and testing scenarios
  • Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement and support technical solutions across a full-stack of development tools and technologies
  • Continuously improve software engineering practices
  • Create documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance                                                                                                    

Basic Qualifications
• Minimum 12+ years of experience in design and development of large-scale SaaS products and services with following technologies: C# or Java, JavaScript, Web Services, Entity Framework and Database, with demonstrated expertise in leveraging development best practice methodologies.
• Minimum 8+ years of experience in building large-scale applications using open source technologies and design and development of distributed batch or real time data pipeline and data analytics solutions, using HDFS, MapReduce, Spark, Kafka Streaming, or Apache Flink.

Preferred Qualifications
• 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD. Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or other related technology discipline
• Experience in Microservices design and implementing RESTful APIs.
• Experience in improving application availability & resilience.
• Experience in Angular, NGINX or any similar UI technologies.
• Experience with large-scale DR systems with both VM and Container based multi datacenter (active active) solutions, external 3rd parties such as Akamai, Cloud Fare etc. and how to bring the solution together into a single view
• Good knowledge and experience of database fundamentals, RDBMS data modeling, programming and performance tuning with MS SQL and/or equivalent database.
• Identify opportunities for future enhancements and refinements to standards, best practices and development methodologies
• Experience in Azure cloud platform is a plus.
• Experience in ETL or SSIS is a plus.
• Experience in APM/SIEM tools such as Splunk and Prometheus is a plus
• Experience in TDD and Continuous Integration using Azure DevOps, Jenkins, SonarQube etc.
• Knowledge of secure coding practices and framework is a plus
• Experience in supporting large enterprise applications is a plus
• Experience in Agile methodologies such as Scrum.
• Always have an aptitude to learn new technologies and take on challenges

Flex Work Arrangement: This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office two days a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% of the time based on business needs.
