We are seeking a skilled, quick-learning CPA with 6+ years of broad accounting experience--including audit experience--to join our fast-paced, dynamic Accounting team as a Senior Accounting Manager. In this role, you'll manage month-end close and support all areas of Vroom's accounting team. This position sits in our beautiful new offices in the Westchase area of Houston, TX and reports to the Divisional Controller onsite.

Responsibilities

  • Support all aspects of accounting and shared services management (AP, AR, Revenue, Intercompany, General Ledger, Cash Offices)
  • Assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with SOX and established best practices
  • Manage the month-end close to the established calendar
  • Assist with implementation of accounting IT system to facilitate processes and maintain records
  • Review and approve posting transactions and journal entries prepared by staff
  • Reconcile and analyze accounts for the monthly or annual closing
  • Communicates results of analysis in a clear, concise, and salient manner
  • Participate in preparation and completion of the annual audit
  • Review the company's accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances
  • Identifies process and control improvement opportunities and works with management to implement appropriate changes
  • Acts as backup for other Team members of the Accounting team
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintains solid understanding of accounting policies and stay current on changes in GAAP

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • 6+ years of accounting and operations experience -recent experience in an ecommerce, retail or consumer sector is preferred
  • Previous experience performing or managing an audit
  • Extensive knowledge of technical accounting matters including GAAP, revenue recognition, Sarbanes-Oxley and SEC reporting
  • Both public company and startup experience a plus
  • Strong communicator who can distill complex and/or technical financial concepts, while providing strategic viewpoints
  • Can excel in a fast-growing and amorphous environment -- adapting and reprioritizing as needed
  • Always curious and always learning
  • Strong aptitude for managing and analyzing large volumes of transactions and data
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong commitment to complete task timely is a must
  • Ability to carry out tasks autonomously and collaboratively
  • Individual should be able to meet deadlines under pressure
