Senior Product Manager, Business Systems

We’re looking for a Senior Product Manager to lead all back-office business systems that drive Warby Parker, including insurance processing, supply chain, customer experience, and retail operations. The person in this role will be responsible for creating world-class software applications that power Warby Parker day in and day out. They’ll work closely with business leaders, including department heads, individual contributors, subject matter experts, internal engineering teams, and external partners to create and execute on a product roadmap that they create—one that supports some of the most beautiful and seamlessly integrated shopping experiences across the web and in our bricks-and-mortar stores. Your key tasks will be to:

  • Own (i.e., product manage) Warby Parker’s key business system (ERP), Springfield
  • Create and communicate product roadmaps
  • Decide what to build internally vs. what we can purchase off the shelf, driving vendor decisions
  • Be a leader to other Product Managers and Technical Product Managers
  • Identify and prioritize optimizations across the entire back office, from ideation to delivery
  • Manage cross-functional projects

We’ll also need you to:

  • Demonstrate great charisma and a desire to help others
  • Be proactive, thoughtful, and deliberate
  • Optimize our interactions with external vendor systems
  • Create roadmaps based on our business objectives and metrics
  • Ensure a broad and thorough understanding of those roadmaps across the management team
  • Generate ideas and strategies based on your understanding of current and future problems
  • Work closely with both business and technical stakeholders and providers
  • Understand overall company performance/priorities and translate these into product roadmap decisions
  • Attend key meetings, including management offsites, and interact with executives and department heads to discuss ideas in real-time (e.g., roadmaps, risks, and work dependencies)

It would be cool if you had:

  • 5–7 years of experience developing, defining, and growing multiple business systems (e.g., insurance, CRM, CMS, supply chain/inventory, merchandising, material handling systems/warehouse management systems), product lifecycle management (PLM), PO management systems, and/or modules that complemented (or bolted onto) ERPs
  • Stellar presentation, collaboration, and communication skills
  • A team-player disposition, played nicely with others, and were comfortable being either a leader or a contributor on a variety of projects
  • Confidence without an ego
  • Expert decision-making skills
  • A passion for making and shipping products
  • Experience with health insurance claims processing, clearinghouses, and EDI
  • Experience with logistics, warehouses, or manufacturing in a retail and/or e-commerce context
  • Experience working for a company that has a heavy consumer-facing element, like e-commerce
  • Experience defining or understanding business metrics that measure the effectiveness of the backend systems you’ve helped lead to create

We’re looking for someone who has a passion for designing and improving systems that drive the bottom line—and who has experience creating multiple systems to improve business performance. We’ll be happiest to hear examples of how you’ve taken system projects from concept through to completion.

You’ll also need to demonstrate experience with inspiring and leading multi-disciplinary design teams. Bonus points if you can show us presentations that you’ve shared with the larger product community. It would be great if you understood the drivers that affect costs, lead times, and quality metrics in supply chain, customer care, inventory management, and order fulfillment.
