HR Coordinator

Warby Parker, New York, NY

Work behind the scenes or in the stores

We’re looking for an all-star HR Coordinator to come on as a key member of the HR team at our New York City headquarters, supporting employees across the U.S. and Canada. The person in this role will manage new-hire processes, payroll, and benefits administration, and be a resource for all things HR-related for our employees—both near and far (i.e., both at our New York City HQ and nationwide as we continue to grow our Nashville office and our network of stores).

What you’ll do:

  • Be the first point of contact for all employee questions related to HR services (i.e., benefits, policies, and procedures, including paychecks, taxes, and time off)
  • Own the first part of the onboarding process, from the time a new hire’s signed offer letter is received until their first day with the company
  • Enter employee data into HRIS/payroll systems and ensure all data and employee information is up to date (e.g., new-hire documents, employment status changes, and terminations)
  • Oversee benefits administration including the organization of materials for new-hire orientation, annual benefit open enrollment, and invoice reconciliation
  • Take on HR administration and compliance regarding employment verifications, unemployment, tax notices, and labor law posters (the list goes on!)

Who you are:

  • The owner of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and work experience in HR
  • Equipped with 1–3 years of experience in HR at a high-growth, high-volume company
  • Interested in and passionate about HR
  • Extremely detail-oriented (you’ve never met an “i” you didn’t want to dot)
  • An expert communicator in writing and in person (the ability to communicate professionally with external and internal folks, and with all levels of management, is paramount here!)
  • A team player who’s positive and employee-experience-oriented
  • Able to manage highly confidential matters with poise and maturity

Extra Credit:

  • Knowledge of HR systems

About us:

Warby Parker was founded in 2010 with a lofty objective: to offer designer eyewear at a revolutionary price while leading the way for socially conscious businesses. By circumventing traditional channels and designing our frames in house, we’re able to offer insanely high-quality eyewear at decidedly non-insane prices (i.e., from $95 with prescription lenses—a fraction of the going price!).

In the last seven years, we’ve grown to over 50 retail locations in the U.S. and Canada, opened our first optical lab in upstate New York, and launched two of our own iOS apps. And for three years running, Fast Company has named us one of the world’s most innovative companies.

We’re also a certified B Corporation, so we’re held to the highest standards of social and environmental responsibility. This means lots of different things, like operating carbon-neutrally and distributing a pair of glasses to someone in need for every pair we sell. (We’re big believers that businesses can scale and be profitable while doing good in the world.)

Of course, all work and no play makes an extremely dull office, and no one likes an extremely dull office. (We sure don’t.) As an employee at Warby Parker, you can look forward to company outings, guest speakers, volunteering opportunities, and other brain- (and/or taste-bud-) stimulating activities. It also doesn’t hurt that our team is just great company.

Some benefits and perks of working at Warby Parker:

  • Health, vision, and dental insurance
  • Flexible “My Time” vacation policy
  • Retirement savings plan with a company match
  • Parental leave (non-birthing parents included)
  • Cell phone plan reimbursement
  • A health-and-wellness stipend
  • Free eyewear (plus discounts for friends and family)
  • And more (just ask!)
