Software Engineer - Summer Intern - Android

Yelp, San Francisco, CA

Connecting people with great local businesses

Ready to re-define your Summer with an internship at Yelp? Want to help Yelp create more amazing experiences? Our mobile team is lucky. Yelp is the richest source of local data in the world, and we get to build all that content into location-aware mobile apps. We're bringing our 100M+ reviews to our millions of app lovers all around the globe. We push Yelp's frontier, adding new products that make sense in an emerging mobile world, from which we draw the majority of our searches.

We are an agile team that creates an amazing experience for millions of people. We are engineers. And we are also makers (of burrito bombers), roller girls, pilots, bakers, and cartwheelers. We’re a small team, and everyone plays a critical part in defining and building the perfect experience for millions of people. We're hiring students pursuing a Bachelor's Master's or Doctorate degree to take our Yelp Android experience to the next step - then rinse and repeat. Be creative, build prototypes, iterate.

Where You Come In:

  • You will build new features in the Yelp app to connect people with great local businesses.
  • You will help our team improve and iterate on existing functionality to reliably give our users a smooth experience.
  • You will insist on a consistent and responsive user experience for every one of our users.
  • You will mentor other engineers and share the skills you’ve learned.
  • You will continue to learn, grow, and help us take on brand new challenges.
  • You will be a key part of the larger Android developer community at Yelp.

What it Takes to Succeed:

  • You can provide pointers to mobile apps you've built.
  • You have expertise in Java or other mobile languages.
  • You are eager to embrace challenges with scalability, reliability, and performance.
Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, we will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
