Compensation Analyst

Come grow your career in Compensation! Yelp is looking for a Compensation Analyst to join our People Operations Team in San Francisco. You will be a thought partner in developing and improving our compensation structure, a positive go-getter who is happy to ask questions and has the initiative to find answers.

This is not a role where you’re simply sitting behind the scenes crunching numbers (although there is some of that, so you should love data and be an excel wiz). Most of all we want you to help influence clients in a way that makes sense and really sells the Yelp compensation story. You will:

  • Manage salary survey participation including data audits, validation, benchmarking and recommending additional compensation data sources
  • Own vendor-based applications to analyze salary survey results to create and maintain compensation structures 
  • Be a thought partner to our Compensation Team Members on various on-going projects including but not limited to quarterly compensation cycle and identifying market trends
  • Provide compensation support to Leadership, Recruiting and Business Partners for select departments and/or organizations with oversight from manager
  • Be a thought partner to our Compensation Team Members on various ongoing projects including but not limited to quarterly compensation cycle, program competitiveness, salary ranges & market trends
  • Assist in developing tools to help model, interpret and analyst external data
  • Assist with reviews related to compliance and government regulations regarding pay, including the FLSA statute
  • Partner with our People Analytics, People Operations and Finance teams to gather information and help tell our story with numbers
  • Assist in developing compensation plans, policies/practices and documentation

You should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • 2+ years of relevant Compensation experience
  • Solid, experience (and examples of) having owned salary survey participation including data audits, validation, benchmarking and recommending additional compensation data sources
  • Intermediate knowledge of Excel (e.g. working knowledge or ability to learn: vlookups, nested functions, pivot tables, charts/graphs, etc.)
  • A passion for analytics and be a problem solver 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team, conduct research, formulate conclusions, and present conclusions or solutions to business issues

Extra brownie points if you are someone who:

  • Likes to learn new things and can learn quickly. When things change, you can roll with it
  • Enjoys problem solving and finding creative solutions
  • Has experience in two or more of the following areas: Workday, Tableau, Global Compensation, Sales Compensation, Compensation Consulting
  • Holds a strong background in Compensation, Mathematics, Finance, Statistics or Economic 
  • Maintains working knowledge of Radford (Aon Hewitt) & Compryx | Mercer
  • Can dabble in VBA programming languages
  • Completed the Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) requirements
