Yelp is looking for a Global Compensation Manager to join our Total Rewards team to be a key thought partner and further develop our global compensation strategy. This critical leadership role reports into our Director, Head of Total Rewards, Operations & Analytics. Leading a team of analysts while evolving and enhancing our compensation strategy, structure and philosophy are all part of a day’s challenge in this dynamic role. Role and Responsibilities
As the Global Compensation Manager, you will serve as a key leader of the Total Rewards team and interact regularly with the People Operations team and key business leaders. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic compensation professional with a knack for getting things done. We'll need you to have both strategic and hands-on experience. This position is a great opportunity to make an impact and to provide vision and direction around strategic compensation program delivery.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Lead Yelp’s Global Compensation function to effectively design, implement, administer and manage the compensation strategy, philosophy, programs, policies, and initiatives
  • Partner with the People Operations team and key business leaders to manage, consult and guide compensation decisions
  • Identify, assess and execute on-going compensation process improvement
  • Partner with the People Operations and HR Technology team to design, configure and administer compensation systems
  • Lead compensation planning and review cycles with strong People Operations team partnerships and project management
  • Provide leadership in company-wide compensation communications and total rewards delivery
  • Participate in compensation surveys and analyze market data; manage all benchmarking activity
  • Manage and respond to inquiries from managers, HR Business Partners and recruiters to provide market analysis, information and advice tailored to each unique situation
  • Lead the design of compensation programs and frameworks, including base, variable and equity programs
  • Design compensation communication, statements, tools and processes for recruiting, managers, employees and other key partners
  • Partner with other total reward team members, consultants, HR Technology, and other business partner on design and project work
  • Create expert analysis and modeling as needed for program design, business-specific benchmarking and pay range creation, and impact analysis
  • Assist in preparing and facilitating analysis and materials for Compensation Committee and external Board of Directors meetings
  • Be a key thought partner on Total Rewards initiatives
  • Maintain the evolving internal job architecture and structure
  • Ensure pay practices are compliant with requirements in the countries where we operate
  • Partner with our People Analytics, People Operations and Finance teams to analyze and visualize program impacts

The ideal candidate for this role brings multi-faceted capabilities, such as:

  • Compensation design expertise with a solid knowledge of all Federal, Statutory and Local regulatory laws and compliance such as FLSA
  • Leadership skills balanced with a willingness to play a 'hands-on' role on key projects
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills to effectively communicate compensation strategies at all levels, from administrative to the C-Suite
  • Ability to think globally, strategically and objectively to effectively translate data into actionable insights, strategies and compensation plans
  • Strong analytics & storytelling
  • Comfort building and maintaining a large global budget
  • Great team management - optimism through tough challenges, and a strong promoter of team chemistry and professionalism
  • Enthusiasm in a fast-paced, demanding environment while managing sensitive, confidential issues

Personal and Professional Qualifications

  • 8+ years of Compensation experience
  • Experience with job evaluation, salary structure design and market pricing
  • Experience with equity program design and administration
  • Knowledge of Radford survey benchmark jobs and database
  • Exceptional client relationship management skills
  • Strong analytical skills; the ability to synthesize data and develop insights
  • Ability to work independently as well as work collaboratively
  • Keen business acumen and proven ability to align organization business strategies with rewards programs
  • Proven success as a people manager, including hiring, developing, guiding and engaging professionals
  • Excellent self-management and interpersonal skills
  • Impeccable discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information
