We are looking for a supplier development engineer to own the transition from prototype to volume manufacturing by solving manufacturing issues and driving continuous improvement with suppliers. You will work closely with Zipline’s Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing teams to perform root cause analysis and implement solutions with the suppliers while driving down cost and maintaining the highest production quality. This person will directly impact our ability to scale our life-saving service from tens to hundreds of millions of people.

In 1 month you’ll:
Gain a deep understanding of Zipline's current internal and external manufacturing capabilities, vehicle design/assembly, and inbound logistics system.
Audit current vendor process and quality both domestic and abroad

In 3 months you’ll:
Own the transition to higher volume contract manufacturers
Partner with Mechanical Engineering to reduce production cost on parts and provide rapid delivery with outstanding quality
Serve as liaison between CM’s and internal teams to ensure clear communications
Qualify new production vendors
Perform audits at potential suppliers to determine current status and potential for a strategic partnership.

In 6 months you’ll:
Create a robust vendor / process certification methodology that ensure quality is built into our parts and processes
Guide vendors through cost reduction and quality improvements.
When parts need re-qualification you will own test development, execution, or delegation to specialist/original designer

Must be eligible to work in the US

**Must be able to travel 50% of the time**
