Zipline is developing the most advanced fleet of autonomous vehicles in the world to serve its mission of providing life-saving medical products across the planet. To do this, we're building a small team of the best and brightest software engineers to come up with simple solutions to really hard problems.
The Software Tools & Infrastructure team is responsible for enhancing the overall productivity of other developers. This team largely focuses on streamlining the ways in which engineers write, build, test, verify, release, deploy, monitor, and debug code across the entirety of the software stack. This requires paying careful attention to the interplay between all parts of the system, from our core system libraries, to our simulation and analysis frameworks, to our regression-testing and deployment tools.
We're looking to hire a senior engineer to own our developer environment, build system, and deployment process.
What you'll work on in your first few months:
You'll build a software release management service that allows our distribution centers to download new software releases or rollback when issues arise
You'll enhance our CI pipelines to improve build-throughput and system uptime
You'll refactor our container image architecture to optimize the trade-offs involved between our development and debugging needs, and the needs of our production environments in remote locations
You'll mesh with the team if you:
Care deeply about efficiency and productivity
Are passionate about the experience of software engineering as much as the output
Love designing elegant systems that allow for reuse and composability
Aren't afraid to dig into any piece of code you come across
Strong candidates will have:
5+ years of total software development experience
Track record of deploying production-quality software
Experience architecting, building and iterating on internal tool infrastructure
Solid understanding of CI release pipelines and automation tools such as Bamboo, CircleCI, or Buildkite
Familiarity with containerization tools such as Docker/Podman
Fluency in Python and C++ with Linux-based server environments
Strong debugging and problem solving skills
Knowledge of assorted database technologies and messaging frameworks
We value diversity at Zipline and welcome applications from those who are traditionally underrepresented in tech. If you like the sound of this position, but are not sure if you are the perfect fit, please apply!
Our mission is to provide every human on Earth with instant access to vital medical supplies. To achieve this, we are building an awesome team of smart, dedicated engineers who come from all sorts of backgrounds. If you are unsure if you meet all the requirements listed above but still think you provide value not explicitly listed, we'd love for you to apply!
More than two billion people lack adequate access to essential medical products, such as blood and vaccines, due to challenging terrain and gaps in infrastructure.
Zipline improves access to these supplies by flying over impassable mountains and washed-out roads, delivering directly to remote clinics. We centralize supply and provide on-demand deliveries, completely reducing waste and stock-outs.
Zipline provides a seamless delivery system at an affordable price, obsessing over every detail, so you can focus on patient health.
