The Senior Mission Critical Computer Engineer is responsible for the functional and safety integrity of all networks and computational devices on the vehicle, seeing to a computational network that integrates to a well defined whole and performs the intended function in the intended environment.

This engineer defines and validates metrics for all computational equipment including throughput/idle time and network traffic in order to optimize and guarantee computational performance in all conditions.  This extends to both AI and vehicle networks.  Additionally this engineer performs trade-studies and manages and validates network level requirements, including computational performance, design assurance and electrical and environmental robustness.  Also responsible for defining, procuring and managing the assets required to accomplish these deliverables.

  • Define and manage network level computational architecture and requirements
  • Define and maintain metrics for network level computational performance
  • Define consistent environmental and electrical specifications for the computational network
  • Define and execute an assurance plan for the computational network
  • Define and manage assets required to validate requirements and verify designs
  • Coordinate the requirements and manage flow-down with equipment owners

  • Advanced Degree in Mission Critical Computer Engineering or equivalent
  • Proficiency equivalent to 10+ years experience the areas below:
  • Modeling, optimization and requirements management of node and network traffic loads in conventional and parallel processing applications
  • Design for availability metrics and assurance by function
  • Fault tolerance, redundancy management, validation and verification
  • Automotive and / or aerospace standards, such as IEEE 802.1, IEC 61508, ISO 26262, ARP4754, DO178-C, DO-254, ARP-4761, DO-297.

Zoox is developing the first ground-up, fully autonomous vehicle fleet and the supporting ecosystem required to bring this technology to market. Sitting at the intersection of artificial intelligence, robotics, and design, Zoox aims to provide the next generation of mobility-as-a-service in urban environments. We’re looking for top talent that shares our passion and wants to be part of a fast-moving and highly execution-oriented team.
